We’re always asked what equipment we recommend for making great stop motions with your mobile phone so we’ve compiled a list of our favorites that we’ve tried and tested below.

Tripods

Phone Tripod

We highly recommend a tripod because the key to making a smooth, professional looking stop motion from your phone is to have steady frames throughout your video. We love this phone tripod because it’s lightweight and comes with a universal phone mount and bluetooth remote.

Overhead Tripod

An overhead tripod is a must-have for capturing product photography. Here’s a tip: we like to use a light stand as an overhead tripod because it provides a longer extender giving you the option to create wider flat lays. You’ll need all three of the following to create this overhead tripod: the stand, the 360 rotating ball head and the phone mount.

Or, here is a traditional overhead tripod which comes with the 360 rotating ball head but you’ll need the phone mount.

Lighting

Having the right lighting makes all the difference and a great investment for stop motion video or for content creation in general (TikTok videos anyone?). Our recommendation is this continuous light because it provides a stronger, direct/hard light and is really bright.
