Elf Brings Cards | Elf on the Shelf Ideas 2022
LET’S GET CREATIVE!! We at Life Lapse love receiving snail mail from loved ones near and far! Did anyone have making homemade cards on their Festive to do list this year? It looks like a little special someone sure did!
Won’t your kiddos be excited to see Elf has brought them a special little note in the hopes of receiving one in return. Use stop motion magic and those creative skills of yours to create both a big and Elf sized Festive card!
What you’ll need:
iPhone or Android with our app, Life Lapse
Tripod or DIY tripod
Elf on the Shelf, of course
Props: in this case, we used a cricut machine and template to create the cards. This isn’t a necessity as the cards can easily be handmade. Blocks, lego or something small/heavy will be helpful to hide inside the card if it needs assistance standing upright!
Step 1: Set up your Elf and big card just out of the scene, and lock exposure, focus and white balance to make for a smooth transition. Set up your interval timer to take a photo every 10 seconds or use a bluetooth remote if you have one with the pro version of our app.
Step 2: Take a photo with Elf and card out of shot.
Step 3: Move Elf and the card a little bit (now appearing on camera). Wait for a photo to be taken.
Step 4: Continue until the Elf and card are in the middle of the scene. Hot tip - bend the Elf’s leg a bit at a time with each photo so it looks like they really are moving everything. Once the card and Elf are in the middle of the scene, have the little card magically appear from inside the big card bit by bit. Make sure to only move everything a little at a time, so that the video is the smoothest it can be!
Step 5: Launch the editor. Speed up the video, freeze the end frame, adjust the brightness or make any other adjustments to perfect the video.
