Elf Wants to Play Tic Tac Toe | Elf on the Shelf Ideas 2022
WHO GETS CREATIVE DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON? The Life Lapse team definitely does and we know we aren’t the only ones! Whether it be baking up a storm, doing Festive Arts & Crafts projects or creating homemade presents, we try to do it all...time permitting of course! Not all of our Festive creative visions become reality and the ones that do don’t always turn out how we planned, but it sure is fun to give it a try.
So for all the DIYers, experts or amateurs, why don’t you roll up your sleeves and dive on in to use stop motion magic and those creative skills of yours to take your Elf on the Shelf ideas to the next level!
What you’ll need:
iPhone or Android with our app, Life Lapse
Tripod or DIY tripod
Elf on the Shelf, of course
Props: in this case, we used a cricut machine and template to create the tic tac toe game. This isn’t a necessity as the Tic Tac Toe game can easily be handmade. Blocks, lego or something similar will be helpful to prop up the piece of cardstock used to hide the game!
Step 1: Set up your Elf at the edge of the scene holding onto the cardstock (with the game hidden underneath), and lock exposure, focus and white balance to make for a smooth transition. Set up your interval timer to take a photo every 10 seconds or use a bluetooth remote if you have one with the pro version of our app.
Step 2: Start with Elf at the edge of the scene holding the cardstock which is supported by blocks, lego or something similar so it can be elevated. Take a photo.
Step 3: Move Elf and the cardstock a little bit. Wait for a photo to be taken.
Step 4: Continue until the cardstock is out of scene and the game has been revealed. Make sure to only move the cardstock a little at a time, so that the video is the smoothest it can be!
Step 5: Launch the editor. Speed up the video, freeze the end frame, or make any other adjustments to perfect the video.
