Elf Has Found The Elf Cam | Elf on the Shelf Ideas 2022

FESTIVE MODE WELL AND TRULY ACTIVATED!! No matter how long your to do list is and how fast the days tick on by, you’ve got this! With the list in one hand and a Festive drink in the other you can tackle even the toughest of tasks. So let us help you out a bit as we continue to weave some stop motion magic through the joy that is Elf on the Shelf.

This time the naughty little Elf seems to have discovered your Elf cam. Good thing you have a back up plan!

What you’ll need:

  • iPhone or Android with our app, Life Lapse

  • Tripod or DIY tripod

  • Elf on the Shelf, of course

  • Props: in this case, we used a cricut machine and template to create the Elf cam. This isn’t a necessity as you can easily make an Elf cam without these things...get creative! You will need some sort of putty or sticky dots to keep the Elf cam in place if you have a round one like us.

Step 1: Set up your Elf cam and Elf just out of the scene, and lock exposure, focus and white balance to make for a smooth transition. Set up your interval timer to take a photo every 10 seconds or use a bluetooth remote if you have one with the pro version of our app.

Step 2: Take a photo with Elf cam and Elf out of shot.

Step 3: Move Elf cam and Elf a little bit (now appearing in camera). Wait for a photo to be taken.

Step 4: Continue until the Elf cam and Elf are in the middle of the scene. Hot tip - bend the Elf’s leg a bit at a time with each photo so it looks like they really are moving everything. Make sure to only move everything a little at a time, so that the video is the smoothest it can be!

Step 5: Launch the editor. Speed up the video, freeze the end frame, adjust the brightness or make any other adjustments to perfect the video.

Step 6: Save and share! Tag us @lifelapse_app or using our hashtag, #lifelapse. For Elf on the Shelf content only, take a look at our hashtag #elfontheshelfvideo
