Elf Tangled Up | Elf on the Shelf Ideas 2022
LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE HAS GOTTEN THEMSELVES INTO A PICKLE!! If you have kids or know someone that does, then you all are probably knee deep in all things Elf on the Shelf. It must be fun, but sometimes exhausting to get creative with your Elf while keeping alive the magic of your traditions! 🎅
Let us give you a helping hand. Think of us as your Elf assistants. Each year we like to use our app, Life Lapse, to create stop motion magic with Elf. These videos are such a fun and creative way to immerse yourself and your family in the Festive spirit. Not only that, but learning how to create stop motion videos is a great creative skill to have.
What you’ll need:
iPhone or Android with our app, Life Lapse
Tripod or DIY tripod
Elf on the Shelf, of course
Props: in this case, we used a Festive bead garland. You can use whatever you have around the house as long as it can have the same effect i.e. garlands, tinsel, even toilet paper!
Step 1: Set up your Elf, in a Festive scene, off to the side all ‘tangled’ up, and lock exposure, focus and white balance to make for a smooth transition. Set up your interval timer to take a photo every 10 seconds or use a bluetooth remote if you have one with the pro version of our app.
Step 2: Start with Elf ‘tangled’ up on one side out of shot. Take a photo.
Step 3: Unravel Elf a little bit (now in camera). Wait for a photo to be taken.
Step 4: Continue until Elf is either in the middle of the shot or has rolled to the other side out of the camera. Make sure to only untangle Elf a little at a time, so that the video is the smoothest it can be!
Step 5: Launch the editor. Speed up the video, freeze the end frame, adjust the brightness, or make any other adjustments to perfect the video.
Step 6: Save and share! Tag us @lifelapse_app or using our hashtag, #lifelapse. For Elf on the Shelf content only, take a look at our hashtag #elfontheshelfvideo
