Elf Drinks Hot Chocolate | Elf on the Shelf Ideas 2022
Did someone say chocolate? Because we’re all chocolate, all the time. And this year, we’re in support of Elf being all chocolate too-- especially if we get to eat (or drink) his leftovers. 🍫🍩🍪
When it comes to thinking up new ways to mix up your holiday activities, we recommend thinking a little bit outside the box! Making Elf on the Shelf videos is an amazing way to spice up your creativity and to bring your Elf to life! This is great for the kids, but also great as just a fun hobby to explore during the rainy season! Stop motion video content is a new medium that is under-utilized. Our app, Life Lapse, makes it accessible for all levels of stop motion video makers.
What you’ll need:
An iPhone or Android with the Life Lapse app
Tripod or DIY tripod
props: we used a mug, hot chocolate and straw, and marshmallows!
Step 1: Place Elf against a wall-- this is necessary in order to get the Elf and straw to stay in place to make a smooth video. Set up your full hot chocolate, tripod, and lock the exposure and white balance in place.
Step 2: Slowly move mini marshmallows in frame, taking a photo in between each shot until all the marshmallows are in the mug. If you are short on time, feel free to skip the marshmallow step.
Step 3: Begin removing hot chocolate from the mug. We used a turkey baster to scoop up hot chocolate. Make sure to have a second mug nearby to deposit the hot chocolate in, to make the chance of dripping all over the counter narrower! Keep a towel on hand for that too. It is important to remove hot chocolate without moving the mug or straw, so that it looks as if Elf is drinking it!
Step 5: Continue removing hot chocolate and taking photos until all of the hot chocolate is gone!
Step 6: Load the editor, and adjust contrast, speed, and crop! Add a filter if you would like.
