It’s the most magical time of year! But with that magic comes the stress of making the holiday season bigger, and better, for everyone involved. This year more than ever, it’s so crucial to make the holiday season feel like a magical escape from the real world. ✨
When it comes to festive activities, there are very few quite as fun and creative as Elf on the Shelf. Whether you have tiny kiddos (who believe in Elf’s magic) or are just setting your guy up for your personal enjoyment, it’s so fun to catch Elf in the act!
If you’re a little tired or worn out this holiday season, don’t worry, we got you covered with our Elf on the Shelf ideas-- no brainstorming necessary. Just make sure to stay tuned to our blog and our website catchelfmove.com to get more sweet ideas!
If your elf is a diva (like ours), it definitely deserves its own wintery red carpet! Keep on reading to find out how we achieved this Elf on the Shelf stop motion. Stop motion has been such an amazing tool to expand our creative horizons with Elf on the Shelf.
What you’ll need:
iPhone or Android with the Life Lapse app
Tripod or DIY tripod
Your Elf on the Shelf (we have a girl Elf!)
Props: we used red ribbon as the carpet, pinecones, and a Christmas sign! 🎄
Step 1: Set up your Elf, overhead tripod, and iPhone. Lock the white balance and exposure to ensure a smooth, well-lit stop motion video. Do not move the phone while you are shooting!
Step 2: Have your Elf holding a completely rolled ribbon. Take a photo. Unroll the ribbon a little bit, and take another photo.
Step 3: Continue until the ribbon is fully out of frame! Your elf has set up its red carpet. If you are feeling creative, you can have Elf strike a pose. We had Elf lean onto a Christmas decoration.
Step 4: Load the editor, and adjust speed, contrast, and crop the video if necessary.
Step 5: Save and share! Make sure to tag us @lifelapse_app or #LifeLapse. To catch only our Elf on the Shelf content and to see other people’s Elf videos, tag #elfontheshelfvideo.
We love our fancy Elf, and we love the creativity that using stop motion can bring to the world of Elf on the Shelf. For more Elf video ideas, check out catchelfmove.com and get inspired! Stop motion is such a great tool for bringing your Elf to life and really wowing your kids! Plus, it’s a great tool for a little creative indoor fun during the winter season. We might be biased, but we really do love the world of stop motion!
