Stacking Sweater Tutorial | Fall Content Ideas for Instagram
It’s October, which means that for us, it’s cozy season, sweaters and scarfs included-- and that means on our feeds, too. Aside from pumpkin patches and hayrides, we’ve fully delved into creating fall-themed content. We were even able to create a content batch: 15 fall-themed stop motion videos in four hours! Leaving us more time to curl into blankets by the fireplace.
In this tutorial, we’re going to be diving right into creating a snuggle-worthy stacking stop motion, using our app, Life Lapse! This will help you create some eye-catching content straight from your iPhone or Android. Interested in more fall inspo? Check out our Fall Content for Instagram series! And make sure to follow our blog, Instagram, or Youtube for upcoming fall-worthy content tutorials.
The materials for this one are simple!
What you’ll need:
A few different sweaters
A tripod, or DIY tripod
Some background decor, if you feel like it! We opted for some sweet halloween decor and a plant.
Step 1: Get your lighting and white balance set up! If you’re new to stop motion, we recommend taking our stop motion 101 course so you can take advantage of all of our app’s features. Make sure your lighting and camera position are consistent-- that’s the ultimate key to a good stop motion video.
Step 2: It’s easier to take away items than to place them allowing you to make the perfect stack! So, start with a full stack of folded sweaters. Don’t worry about anything that’s not perfect on the outer edges of the screen, as that can be removed in editing.
Step 3: Take a photo with the full stack of sweaters! Remove a sweater, and take another photo. Remove another sweater, and take a photo. Continue this until all the sweaters are gone.
Step 4: press play and start your editing magic! You can increase or decrease the speed, and make sure to enable the boomerang feature so that loops seamlessly. And finally, increase the brightness to really add some pop to your video!
Step 5: That’s it! You can now save and share your stop motion video onto all your socials. Be sure to use #lifelapse and tag us on Instagram @lifelapse_app so we can see your beautiful videos. 😍
