Did someone say Halloween? We’re ready to drown in piles of candy here at Life Lapse HQ. And while the pandemic has made it difficult to have a traditional Halloween, you can always gorge yourself on halloween-themed content, as we’re sure your followers will love it too!

When it comes to stop motion content, your only limit is your creativity. Stop motion content is a surefire way to grasp the attention of your followers— and with an average of only 1.7 seconds of attention paid to your posts, it’s absolutely a must to wow them with your stop motion content ideas!

In this tutorial, we’ll show you exactly how we achieved this video of spiders crawling across the screen, using our app, Life Lapse. Life Lapse is an app made for creators, influencers, and all-around creative souls to create eye-dropping stop motion content. Interested in learning how we achieved this video? Keep reading below!

What you’ll need:

  • Backdrop— we used bristol board from the dollar store

  • iPhone or Android and the Life Lapse app

  • Tripod or DIY tripod

  • Artificial light

  • Props/decor— here, we used a ghost-themed container of candy, a pumpkin, and plastic spiders

Step 1: set up your backdrop and props. Here, we used one bristol board on the table, and one taped to the wall.

Step 2: Adjust white balance and exposure, and then lock them in place! This is key to a good stop motion video.

Step 3: Take a photo without any spiders in frame. Add a spider. Take another photo. Add another spider, and move the previous one up ahead. Take another photo. Make sure the movement between each shot is small, as that makes the video smoother.

Step 4: Continue until all the spiders are in place where you would like them. We recommend moving the spiders in a more curved pattern, as it fills up the screen lightly.

Step 5: Press play, and start editing! We increased brightness, cropped the frame, and sped up the video. We also looped it for a seamless transition.

Step 6: Save, and share to your social media channels! If you share to Instagram, make sure to tag us at @lifelapse_app or use the hashtag #lifelapse!
